A few weeks ago I sat down with my mom to talk about what I do for work. Unlike other conversations that take place around the dinner table, on the drive to work, or desperately trying to save a failed recipe, this conversation was recorded for my mom’s podcast. My mom is Elli Tourjé, a radio DJ, podcast host and radio news anchor who’s interviewed hundreds of people about their life experiences (my favorites include Gerald Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger). Her newest podcast is called Fit Culture and airs on KCOD Coachella FM. It focuses on fitness, lifestyle, business acumen, healthy communities, and emotional and spiritual I.Q. all rolled up together.

Our conversation covered some of my favorite topics - engaging people on shared values over interests or positions, the beauty of rural San Bernardino, why trails like the CV Link matter, and how even small decisions shape our cities.
